The Montblanc 4810 Orbis Terrarum for SIHH 2016

SIHH 2016: Montblanc 4810 Collection Orbis Terrarum

Montblanc released the Spirit Orbis Terrarum World Time at SIHH 2015 to much acclaimed for its combination of price/performance. This year for SIHH 2016, Montblanc announced the 4810 Collection Orbis Terrarum, an evolution of that timepiece.

The two main differences are the dial colour and case size.  The Spirit Orbis Terrarum World Time indicated the nighttime hours via sapphire disc shading the countries in dark blue and the daylight hours countries in light blue. The 4810 Collection Orbis Terrarum indicate daylight hours are colored in shades of yellow, orange, and green. Stainless steel case increased in size from 41mm to 43 mm with slightly different shape with stepped lugs.

I like the added colour as it gives illusion of the much more expensive cloisonné treatment on the much more expensive Patek Philip worldtime. It’ll be interesting to see how Montblanc price the 4810 Collection Orbis Terrarum.

Note: While there are way too many watches announced at SIHH 2016, you’ll find my select coverages reserve for my favourite complications; GMT, Timezone and Worldtimer.
